ABOUT THE CRITIQUE GROUP
Are you an intermediate photographic artist working on a long-term body of work? Are you seeking a supportive community to inspire and strengthen your photographic practice? In this online critique, Corinne Botz will lead a productive and supportive group conversation helping students to create a meaningful body of work. In addition to clarifying concepts and refining aesthetics, research methods, editing, and presentation options will be considered as to be integral to the creative process. Participants will receive guidance in creating structure, setting goals, and overcoming technical challenges. Practical considerations such as how to write an artist’s statement will also be addressed.
NOTES
• Participants will share work in each session.
• New group members will have a 20-minute one-to-one with Corinne before their first class.
• Participants are required to attend their monthly sessions consecutively.
• Enrollment renewal must be completed at least thirty days before a participant's final class to secure their spot in the group.
• As this is an ongoing workshop, Corinne may occasionally need to reschedule a session.
• If a participant is unable to attend the makeup class, an additional session will be added to the end of their six-month package.

Corinne Botz is an artist and educator, whose practice engages with issues including narrative, space, gender, and the body. Her photographs have been widely exhibited, and her published books combining her photography and writing include The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death (The Monacelli Press, 2004) and Haunted Houses (The Monacelli Press, 2010). Botz’s photographs have been internationally exhibited at such institutions as the Brooklyn Museum, Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), Wurttembergischer Kunstverein (Stuttgart, Germany); De Appel (Amsterdam), Turner Contemporary (UK), and Benrubi Gallery (NYC). Her short film “Bedside Manner” (2016) won the Grand Jury Prize at DOC NYC. She has held residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture; Atlantic Center for the Arts; Akademie Schloss Solitude; Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and Mana Contemporary. Botz is the recipient of both the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Jerome Foundation grants. She received her BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art and her MFA from Bard College. Botz is on the faculty of International Center of Photography and John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY).
