Peter M. Krask

Peter M. Krask is a writer, photographer and mentor based in New York City.


Krask has studied at the International Center of Photography, privately with Richard Tuschman and Carol Dragon, and in a master class with Hellen van Meene.  Most recently, his work has been exhibited at the Los Angeles Center of Photography, The Image Flow Gallery, and the Manifest Gallery. In New York, he has exhibited at the SoHo Photo Gallery, the Superfine Artfair, and Gallery Infinito.  He serves on the board of Photolucida and is a pre-screener and juror for their Critical Mass program.


Krask is the Founder and Creative Director of The Creativity Guide which was launched in 2019. He is a Dedicated Mentor at the New Museum’s incubator of art, design and technology, New Inc, and is an Expert Coach for Columbia University’s CUGrow program. He is on the faculty of the Paris-based International School of Management.  He has recently appeared in Bloomberg, Market Watch, Business Insider, and Yahoo Finance. A  frequent podcast guest, Krask has been interviewed on shows including Entrepreneur Media’s Problem Solvers and Action and Ambition, as well as Ingenious Thinkers, The Unmistakable Creative, Behavioral Grooves, Grit Daily, Might Help Can’t Hurt, and Wrote among others.


His non-fiction essay, The Question I Asked Him, opens the anthology The Man I Might Become and his memoir, The Way the Stars Come Home, was included in the anthology Wrestling with the Angel. He has written features and criticism for The Baltimore Sun, The City Paper, and The Boston Phoenix


Krask is the librettist of the opera With Blood, With Ink, which received its acclaimed professional premiere at the Fort Worth Opera Festival, and has been twice featured on New York City Opera’s VOX festival, and produced by universities around the country; a recording is available on Albany Records. Other works include: The Language of Birds, commissioned and premiered by the Sarasota Opera and also featured by the Canadian Children’s Opera Company; Rendezvous of Light premiered in a production he also directed and designed; an adaptation of Calvino’s Invisible Cities; and From the Diary of Kaspar Hauser, The Child of Europe.


Peter M. Krask holds a Master’s Degree in Critical Studies from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

With more than twenty-five years publishing experience, Alan Rapp operates a book services consultancy and works with photographers, artists, and designers to create books and special projects. He has collaborated with in bringing their work to book publication include Cig Harvey, Elinor Carucci, Jona Frank, David Maisel, Jim Marshall, Terry Falke, Stuart Klipper, Linda Connor, and Jo Whaley. Through panels, lectures, workshops, and portfolio reviews he works to inform photographers about the conventions of photography books and their market. Alan is former editorial director of Monacelli, a division of Phaidon and a writer who has contributed to AUGUST, The Photobook Review, and Modern Painters, among other publications.
